Athletics at Mount Saint Charles Academy is an integral part of the formation of the whole child. We not only seek to form the physical strength, coordination, and skill of the child in his/her particular sport, but we also seek to form the foundations of character, perseverance, leadership, and teamwork.

The Mount Saint Charles Dance Studio is home to Team Elite--Rhode Island’s only High School Dance Team. Team Elite competes at both regional and national levels.

Step into Mount’s historic Chapel Hall and you will be mesmerized by the beauty of the stained glass windows.Through the years, Chapel Hall has served as a chapel, a meeting space, and even a library.
The Library Media Center is not only a 21st-century space, it’s an area set up with resources, equipment, and space for students to collaborate. Our center was recently redesigned with students’ academic and social learning at the forefront. The space is more than an area where Mounties can find all the academic research tools and tech equipment they need, it’s a place to chat with friends, work on group projects, and grab a coffee, sandwiches, and other healthy snacks from the new café on the Mount.
The academic program at Mount Saint Charles offers middle schoolers the advantage of being taught by academic content specialists. With different teachers for each subject matter, we are able to place an equal emphasis on knowledge and on the foundational skills that we know to be essential in all levels of learning and beyond. Some of our faculty crosses over from the middle school and high school, giving Mount middle school students opportunities to access advanced knowledge and experiences when they are ready.
There are two drama clubs, one organized for students in 6th through 9th grades and the other for students in 10th through 12th grades. Each club presents two plays each year. Students are encouraged to participate in all aspects of a production, from costume and set preparation to sound, lights, and acting. The Black Box has been transformed into the von Trapp residence from “the Sound of Music” and has been the site of many class movie nights!
The same strength and conditioning training that helped get the Boston Bruins into the NHL playoffs is now at Mount Saint Charles Academy. Michael Macchioni, sport performance coach for the Bruins, took on that same role at Mount at the beginning of the 2019-20 school year. Mr. Macchioni and his staff are at Mount daily developing and supervising individualized conditioning programs.
Named for the school’s first director in 1924, Brother Josephus Residence Hall is currently home to 70 students, all members of the Mount Saint Charles Hockey Academy. In addition to 25 three-bed suites, our 20,000-square-foot residence hall contains common and study rooms, apartments for live-in prefects and an athletic performance center.
Program Highlights: Middle school band and chorus groups take annual trip to Boston, High school music trips to Ireland and Toronto, Canada, student placement among the states’ best musicians in All-State ensembles, Nationally known performers, musicians, and composers work and perform with Mount students, “Pops on the Green” outdoor concerts, Mount’s “Alumni Band” hosts homecoming performances, and a variety of musical opportunities including the strings program, instrumental band, wind ensemble, chorus, jazz band, handbells, and steel drums.
The Mount middle school program was completely revamped in 2017 in a collaborative process with parents and teachers. By combining the experience of our educators and the unique knowledge that all parents have about their own children, we’ve created an education that meets the needs of middle schoolers.
Mount took an old storage closet at the back of the library and transformed it into a full-service cafe offering coffee, snacks, sandwiches, muffins, bagels, and drinks. Students can get something healthy to eat at the end of the day while waiting for a ride home or while waiting for a game or practice to start. Students can eat in the library after school while completing homework or socializing with friends.
Veterans’ Hall pays homage to our brave men and women who answered the call of military service in every United States conflict since – and including – World War II. In World War II alone, 957 Mount students served in each U.S. military branch, respectively. Within the space is a veterans’ display, which includes uniforms, medals, personal documents, military manuals, photographs, and equipment on loan from the Veterans Memorial Museum in Woonsocket.
Our History & Social Studies department offers many Advanced Placement courses as well as courses like economics, sociology, and Holocaust, Genocide & Human Rights Studies.

Classes accommodate students of every ability level, from beginners to burgeoning pros, encouraging them to find their creative outlets.
Home to the legendary Hockey Hall of Fame Coach, Bill Belisle, the winningest high school hockey coach in America, the Sur la Glace elite figure skating program, and the Rhode Island Saints-M Hockey Club.
The Mount Saint Charles School Counseling Team forms strong connections with students and families. Our counselors are available for students and parents for support with students’ academic, social, or family lives.
